According to GoPSUsports.com, Penn State senior co-captain Aaron Anspach (Columbia) is ranked No. 13 at heavyweight in the latest individual rankings released by national wrestling magazine Amateur Wrestling News. Anspach is 3-0 after a perfect day at the Pa. Duals recently.

Millersville senior Greg Testa (Lancaster Catholic) scored a game-high 23 points in a victory over Seton Hill in the MU Classic on Saturday ... Temple senior Dustin Salisbery (McCaskey) scored 22 points in an exhibition game against Lock Haven last week ... Amy Watson (Hempfield) is entering her senior season at McDaniel College. Watson started all 28 games last season, recording 183 points, 146 rebounds, 27 blocked shots, 38 assists and 22 steals from the paint ... Shippensburg sophomore Phylicia Bessick (Hempfield) is a key returnee for the Lady Raiders. Last season she finished third on the team in scoring, averaging 10.7 points per game and second in three-point field goals with 42 ... Elizabethtown College sophomore Megan Quinn (Penn Manor) came off the bench to score 13 points and tie for the team lead in steals with three, while junior Audrey Hitz (Annville-Cleona) led Etown in assists with five and tied for the team lead in rebounds with seven and in steals with three, in the championship game of the Rowan University Holiday Inn Runnemede Tip-Off Tournament Saturday.

Singer sets three records at swim invite

Kutztown junior Ashley Singer (Warwick) went on record-setting streak at this past weekend's Kutztown Invitational swim meet. Singer set the meet and pool record in the 500y freestyle (5:10.75), established a new meet record in the 200y free (1:56.01), and set a new school, pool and meet record in the 1650y free (17:54.98).

University of Massachusetts freshman forward Bryan Hogan (Manheim Twp.) was named to the A10 Conference men's soccer All-Rookie Team. Hogan led UMass in scoring with four goals and eight points and was selected to the UMass Invitational Tournament Team.

The 2006 All-Commonwealth/All-Freedom women's and men's soccer teams include: LVC senior Keri Foster (Penn Manor) and Widener freshman Samantha Baer (Hempfield), both nominated for the second team ... for the men, Wilkes junior Jimmy Thomas (Elco) and Elizabethtown sophomore Wes Bunting (McCaskey) are on the first team, and LVC freshman Travis Steedle (Warwick) and Widener senior Travis Jones (Hempfield) are on the second team.

Kutztown sophomore Austin Kinney (Hempfield) has been named to the All-PSAC East second team in volleyball for the second year in a row. Kinney led Kutztown in assists with 1,058 and is third on the all-time list for career assists with 2,287. She was third in the PSAC in assists per game (10.69). Kinney also was second on the team with 49 service aces and third in digs with 355 this season.

LVC's Brossman sets records; is football Player of Week

Lebanon Valley College junior wide receiver Adam Brossman (Lebanon) has been named the Middle Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. By the end of Saturday's win over Albright, Brossman set or tied four single-season school records, including 1,107 receiving yards, becoming the first player in school history to catch for 1,000 yards in a season; tied his own school records for touchdown catches (15) and points (94); and tied the school record for receptions in a season (62).

Emery, Grazan end hockey careers at Ship

Shippensburg senior Kendra Emery (Lancaster Mennonite) scored a goal in a loss to IUP in the NCAA Division II field hockey quarterfinals. The loss signified the final game in the careers of Emery and senior Natalie Grazan (Manheim Central). Emery played in 88 of Ship's 90 games during her career. She finishes her career with 29 assists, ranking her 18th all-time in Division II history. Grazan finished second on the team and sixth in the conference in scoring, totaling 41 points on 17 goals and seven assists. Grazan also finished her career with 57 goals, which is second on the school's career list.

Pool notes from Gettysburg, McDaniel and Kutztown

Gettysburg College freshman Michael Walsh (Hempfield) was a member of the winning 200y medley relay team in a meet against McDaniel last Wednesday. McDaniel senior Molly Bolek (Hempfield) placed first in the 1000y freestyle. Both Walsh and Bolek finished third in their respective 100y back events ... this weekend against Ursinus, Bolek was victorious in the 1000 free, 200 IM and 500 free ... Kutztown junior Ashley Singer (Warwick) won the 50y and 100y free, setting a new pool record in the latter, against Mansfield and Edinboro. Kutztown junior Sean Bonifas (Hempfield) placed first in the 100 breast in the tri-meet.

Miller breaks Etown record in 1000y freestyle

In a meet against York College earlier this week, Elizabethtown College sophomore Christopher Miller (Cedar Crest) earned his first career victory by breaking a decade-old team record in the 1000y freestyle. Miller won the event in 10:35.61, shattering the old mark of 10:51.58 set in the 1996-97 season. Miller also won the 100y backstroke and 500y freestyle. Etown freshman Matthew Drob (Lampeter-Strasburg) won the 50y free, while sophomore Tara Ison (Hempfield) was a member of the winning 200y medley relay team.

Widener senior Travis Jones (Hempfield) was named second team All-Commonwealth Conference for men’s soccer. Jones lead the conference this season with seven assists and was tied for eighth with 13 points. He was third on the team with three goals.

News from Muhlenberg College ... junior Lauren Rutt (Cocalico) earned second-team 2006 All-Centennial Conference honors in field hockey. According to the "Muhlenberg College Sports Daily," Rutt is the team’s playmaker from her center-midfield position, recording one goal and four assists on the season. She is tied for ninth in team history with 10 career assists ... junior GK Peter Bennett (Conestoga Valley) was named Centennial Conference defensive soccer player of the week on October 23. Bennett tied his career high of nine saves in back-to-back shutout wins against New Jersey and Gettysburg ... junior midfielder Jonathan Kliewer (Ephrata) was selected to the 2006 All-Centennial Conference second team in soccer.

In his first meet as a collegiate swimmer, Vassar freshman Lars Lapann-Johannessen (Hempfield) placed third in the 200y freestyle against NYU in October. Last weekend in a meet against Skidmore, Lapann-Johannessen was a member of the winning 200y medley relay team and also finished second in the 200y fly and 200y free relay and took third in the 100y fly.

More all-conference accolades in field hockey: Ohio University senior Megan Rentschler (Ephrata) was named second team All-MAC ... Knowles, Hoffsmith named to NEC all-conference in soccer

Saint Francis senior forward Ashlie Knowles (Hempfield) and senior midfielder Kirsten Hoffsmith (Manheim Central) were named to the All-Northeast Conference Second Team at their respective positions. On the year, Knowles scored three game-winning goals and recorded seven points. Hoffsmith paced a balanced Saint Francis attack with ten points on three goals and four assists.

Gettysburg College senior midfielder Maura Downey (Lancaster Catholic) was named Centennial Conference (CC) Offensive Player of the Week in field hockey. Downey recorded her first career hat trick in a victory over Dickinson that clinched a conference playoff berth. On the season, she leads her team with seven assists and 23 points and is tied for the team-lead with eight goals.
