Alvernia's Bonds is PAC scholar-athlete of year

Alvernia College's Eric Bonds (Penn Manor) has been named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Bonds has been a four-year starter on the Alvernia baseball team. He was selected Conference Rookie of the Year as a freshman and was named to the All-PAC Team all four seasons he played. Bonds, a pre-season All-American in 2006, was recently honored as Alvernia’s Outstanding Senior Male Athlete in the class of 2006.

Delaware's Dixon honored as Ashe sports scholar

University of Delaware junior Chris Dixon (Hempfield) has been honored as an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar as selected by Diverse Issues in Higher Education Magazine. According to the university's athletic website, Dixon, a track and field hurdler, was among 368 student-athletes from all three NCAA divisions honored as part of the annual program which recognizes undergraduate students of color who have made achieving both academically and athletically a winning combination.

Way competes at NCAA track champs

Kentucky junior Georganne Way (Warwick) competed in the 800-meter run but failed to advance with a time of 2:08.06 (PR, 2:06.39, fourth all-time UK) at the 2006 NCAA Track and Field Championships last week.
