LVC's Brossman is football All-American

Lebanon Valley College junior wide receiver Adam Brossman (Lebanon) has been named to the "Don Hansen’s Football Gazette" All-America Third Team. Brossman was also named to the "Football Gazette" All-East Region First Team and was selected as the publication’s East Region Receiver of the Year. Read more about Brossman's accomplishments at:

IUP, LVC, Cal and Messiah report competition results

In track and field, IUP freshman Ceasar Westbrook (McCaskey) placed first in the triple jump (45-11 ¼) and second in the long jump (21-10) at the PSAC West indoor challenge last weekend ... In the pool, LVC sophomore Lauren Horst (Cedar Crest) won the 1,000-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle in a meet against Arcadia on Tuesday ... and Cal of PA sophomore Jessica Lane (Annville-Cleona) won the 500 freestyle in a tri-meet against Slippery Rock and Lock Haven last Saturday ... In basketball, Messiah all-conference senior Jared Yoder (Lancaster Mennonite) had a game-high 17 points and ten rebounds in a victory over Widener on Saturday.

Track, swimming results

In indoor track and field competition at the Bucknell Heptagonal last Saturday, Shippensburg freshman McKenzy Rene (Cedar Crest) placed first in the triple jump with a career-best leap and sophomore James Wilson (Ephrata) finished second in the 55-meter dash.

In swimming, Clarion junior Stevie Coble (Ephrata) won the 500y free against Allegheny College and the 1000y free vs. Edinboro last Friday and Saturday ... Saint Francis University sophomore Cara Morgan (Hempfield) won the 1000y free in a tri-meet against Youngstown State and Radford over the weekend.

Athletes of Week in PSAC, CACC, PAC

Kutztown junior Sean Bonifas (Hempfield) was named the PSAC Swimmer of the Week. Scroll down to read post of Bonifas' weekly accomplishments in the pool for the Golden Bears ... Philadelphia University senior Meg Abele (Warwick) is CACC Co-Player of the Week in basketball. Abele was selected after averaging 26.0 ppg and 4.3 rpg in helping the Lady Rams to a 2-1 mark last week ... Alvernia College senior Ryan Finger (Lampeter Strasburg) was named Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending December 17th. Finger recorded 16 points, seven rebounds, eight assists and two blocks for the Crusaders.

Singer, Bonifas win 3 events for KU

Kutztown University juniors Ashley Singer (Warwick) and Sean Bonifas (Hempfield) each won three events in a swim meet against Albright College last week. Singer took first in the 100, 200 and 500 free events, while Bonifas won the 100 and 200 breast and 200 IM events.

From last Saturday -- Cal of PA sophomore Jessica Lane (Annville-Cleona) won the 200 butterfly in a meet against Juniata College ... University of Georgia senior Cameron Hollinger (Penn Manor) touched first with a time of 20.27 in the 50 free in a meet against Texas.

Sophomore Jessica Lane (Annville-Cleona) and freshman Dani Garrett (Cedar Crest) are swimming for the California University of PA women's squad, which is currently ranked 24th in NCAA DII women's swimming as compiled by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) ... Elizabethtown College sophomore Chris Miller (Cedar Crest), freshman Matt Drob (Lampeter-Strasburg) and sophomore Tara Ison (Hempfield) were first-place winners in a dual meet vs. Drew on Thursday ... Washington & Jefferson sophomore Brittany Bertoli won the 500y freestyle in a meet against Bethany College on Wednesday.

Men's, women's basketball news

Millersville senior guard Greg Testa (Lancaster Catholic) has been named the PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Week in men's basketball. For the week Testa averaged 21.5 points per game, hit 54.2% (13-24) from the field and added 2.5 steals per game.

Elizabethtown College sophomore Megan Quinn (Penn Manor) scored a career high 21 points, while junior Audrey Hitz (Annville-Cleona) pulled down eight rebounds and led the Blue Jays in blocked shots with four, in leading Etown to its 900th win last Saturday.

Millersville University senior guard Greg Testa (Lancaster Catholic) led all scorers with 22 points, including 14 in the first half, in a win over Chowan on Wednesday ... Philadelphia University senior forward Meg Abele (Warwick) was honored by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) as Player of the Week. For the season, Abele is tied for first in the CACC in scoring and three-point field goals per game .... F&M College junior Derek Hines (Manheim Twp) pulled down eight rebounds in a loss to Seton Hill on Wednesday. A day earlier, Hines scored 14 points against Western Connecticut State ... Messiah College senior Jared Yoder (Lancaster Mennonite) recorded a double-double, finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds, in a loss to Cal Lutheran (Ca.) earlier this week.
