In volleyball, Kutztown sophomore Austin Kinney (Hempfield) recorded 88 assists, 11 service aces and 31 digs in three games last week and was selected to the Golden Bear Athletic Honor Roll.

According to an online season preview of the California of Pa. University men's soccer team, senior James Kelley (Conestoga Valley) is part of "a strong group of reserve defenders." Cal won its second consecutive PSAC regular season title last year with a record of 14-8.
Sophomore DB Eric See (Lampeter-Strasburg) and freshman OL Austin Herr (Penn Manor) will be lining up for McDaniel College this fall. On the men's side are juniors Tim Houseman (Hempfield), Derek Jennings (Solanco), Adam Malloy (Ephrata) and Richard Payne (McCaskey) and sophomore Chris Ecker (Penn Manor).
Junior Allison Barthold (Manheim Central) and sophomore Jessika Mancino (Hempfield) are on F&M's team this season. Both are midfielders ... the LVC squad includes seniors Mallary Anderson (Donegal) and Claire Behney (Elco), juniors Chelsea Byers (Lancaster Catholic) and Shauna Enck (Manheim Central), and freshman Nicole Bomberger (Warwick) ... at York College, senior Rachel Hilt is a forward and junior Tiff Transue is goalkeeper. Both are former Hempfield players.
Eastern Mennonite University senior field hockey player Jonalyn Denlinger (Lancaster Mennonite) was selected as a 2005-06 First Team Academic All-State honoree by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID). She was also chosen as the President’s Award Winner as the top scholar-athlete at EMU.

Dickinson College senior field hockey player Becky Harker (Ephrata) was awarded a prestigious Goldwater scholarship by the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation. Harker started for the Red Devils as a defender in her first two seasons, but missed last year while recovering from an injury.

Kutztown University rising juniors Sean Bonifas (Hempfield) and Ashley Singer (Warwick) have been honored as the men's swimming and women's swimming team season MVPs, respectively. Bonifas finished third in the 100 breast at the PSAC Championships, earning All-PSAC honors. He also placed ninth at PSACs in the 200 breast and helped five relays earn points. Singer broke her previous records for KU in the 200 and 500 freestyle and the 200 butterfly. She earned All-PSAC honors in the 500 free and 200 free, placing second and setting school records in both events, and also anchored the school-record setting 800 free relay.
