Baseball, lacrosse Players of Week named

After hitting three home runs in a single game and setting a new school record in the process, West Chester University junior outfielder Drew Pare (Hempfield) was named PSAC Eastern Division Baseball Player of the Week.

In men's lacrosse, Elizabethown College freshman Aaron Weber (Manheim Twp.) was named Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week, while junior teammate Chris Schuch (Hempfield) was selected as Goaltender/Defender of the Week.

Hoerner earns softball weekly honor at King's

King's College freshman Lindsay Hoerner (Northern Lebanon) has been named Freedom Conference Pitcher of the Week for allowing only two hits and a pair of unearned runs and throwing seven strike-outs over five innings in a win over Wesley College.

Wimer is lacrosse Rookie of Week

According to the UMBC athletics website, freshman Kyle Wimer (Hempfield) "has made an immediate impact on the offensive end for UMBC." Wimer is fourth on the team with nine points and was named America East Conference Rookie of the Week earlier this month.

Singer sets 2 KU swim records at nationals

Kutztown University junior Ashley Singer (Warwick) set two school records during competition at the the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships. On Wednesday, Singer broke her own record in the 1000 free (10:42.18) and yesterday did the same in the 200 free (1:53.35).

Yoder makes D3Hoops all-region team

Messiah College senior Jared Yoder (Lancaster Mennonite) was selected to the 2006-2007 D3Hoops.com Men's Basketball All-Middle Atlantic Region Second Team. Yoder was earlier named Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year.

Wrestler Fittery takes 2nd at NCAA's

Shippensburg University freshman wrestler Steve Fittery (Cocalico) finished in second place at the 2007 Division II National Championships. After his four decisions at the National Championships, Fittery's final record for the season is 36-7. He earned All-American status with his performance.

3 at Etown named to all-academic field hockey team

Elizabethtown College senior forward Val Bawell (Garden Spot), senior forward Whitney Brown (Manheim Central) and first-year defender Kelsey Brown (Manheim Central) have earned spots on the National Field Hockey Coaches’ Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squad by posting a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher.

Singer sets two swim records

Kutztown University junior Ashley Singer (Warwick) was named KU Student Bookstore "Athlete of the Week." Singer set two school records and qualified for nationals at the PSAC Championships last weekend.
