Mount Aloysius College, Cresson, PA, featured three former LL student-athletes on its fall sports teams this past season, including: freshman Jennifer Garber (Lancaster Mennonite) in volleyball; freshman Jess Harnly (Warwick) in cross country; and freshman midfielder Laurel Sowards in soccer.
Sophomore Jenna Philo (McCaskey) and freshman Ashley Moyer (Cedar Crest) are on the Millersville University basketball team for the 06-07 season. Both are guards.
Lebanon Valley College sophomore guard Kyle Enoch (Hempfield) tied a career-high with 19 points in a victory over Goucher College earlier this week ... also at LVC, junior receiver Adam Brossman (Lebanon) has been named to the ECAC Division III Southeast All-Star Team (first team offense) ... Messiah College senior Jared Yoder (Lancaster Mennonite) scored 14 points to lead the Falcons over Richard Stockton College and win the second annual Messiah Invitational earlier this month ... also at Messiah, sophomores Kristen Groff (Lancaster Mennonite) and Ashley Brooks (Hempfield) are on the women's hoops team.
Millersville University sophomore back Ben Melnick (Cedar Crest) was selected a captain for the 2007 men's soccer season.
Shippensburg sophomore guard Phylicia Bessick (Hempfield) made her third start of the season and scored 11 points, all in the second half, in a win over West Virginia Wesleyan this past weekend.
Temple senior Dustin Salisbery (McCaskey) scored a career-high 34 points in a win over Western Michigan on Tuesday ... F&M junior Derek Hines (Manheim Twp) posted a double-double of 12 points and 10 boards in a win over Dickinson yesterday ... Millersville senior guard Greg Testa (Lancaster Catholic) scored 22 points in a win against Elizabethtown yesterday ... in that same game, Etown junior Michael Schatzmann (Pequea Valley) scored nine points ... Randolph-Macon junior Jeremy Dixon (Hempfield) recorded 12 points in a loss to Lynchburg yesterday and scored 14 points last Sunday in a win over Roanoke College.
For the second straight year, Widener junior midfielder Luke Weber (Manheim Twp) has been named an honorable mention Inside Lacrosse Division III Preseason All-American. Last season Weber ended tied for fourth in the conference with 33 goals, fifth with 51 points, tied for sixth with 18 assists, tied for first with 10 man-up goals and tied for fifth with 81 ground balls. The 2005 MAC Rookie of the Year also recorded a team-best 84 ground balls and won 57 percent of his face-offs.
Johns Hopkins senior wide receiver Evan Earnest (Hempfield) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Football First Team. Earnest enjoyed the finest season of his career in 2006 as he had a personal-best 43 receptions for 470 yards and four touchdowns. Elizabethtown College junior center and forward Audrey Hitz (Annville-Cleona) has been named to the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation (MASCAC) weekly basketball honor roll for the week ending December 3. Hitz currently leads Elizabethtown and ranks second in the Commonwealth Conference in rebounding with an average of 11.3 rebounds per game.
At the Franklin & Marshall Invitational this weekend, Kutztown junior Ashley Singer (Warwick) won the 100y freestyle and took second in the 200y and 500y freestyle; F&M junior Derek Nowak (Lancaster Catholic) won the 1650y freestyle, placed second in the 500y free and fourth in the 400y IM; Kutztown junior Sean Bonifas (Hempfield) won the 100y breast; and McDaniel senior Molly Bolek (Hempfield) placed fourth in the 1650y free.
Senior Kelly Trevisan (Manheim Twp) and sophomores Whitney Miller (Penn Manor) and Liz Macready (Cocalico) are members of the Bloomsburg field hockey team that won the NCAA DII national championship and went undefeated this season with a record of 24-0.
Elizabethtown College sophomore defender Wes Bunting (McCaskey) has been named to the D3kicks.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team in men’s soccer. He is the first Blue Jay to be named to the inaugural D3kicks.com all-region teams.
Philadelphia University senior forward Meg Abele (Warwick) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's basketball Player of the Week after scoring a game-high 33 points and recording three steals and a blocked shot in a game against East Stroudsburg.
