Opening weekend hoops

F&M sophomore center Derek Hines (Manheim Township) scored nine points and added six rebounds in a 84-75 overtime loss against Trinity College in the title game of the 38th Annual S. Woodrow Sponaugle Tip-Off Classic on Saturday.

LVC freshman guard Kyle Enoch (Hempfield) had six points, six rebounds, and four steals in his collegiate debut in a 55-49 win over Arcadia University in the first round of LVC’s 14th annual Rinso Marquette Tournament Saturday.

Elizabethtown senior Greg Adams (Lebanon) scored 16 points in an opening round loss to Richard Stockton College in the L.B. Smith Ford Blue Jay Classic on Friday. In Saturday's consolation game, Adams scored the buzzer-beater shot to defeat King's College 84-83. Sophomore Michael Schatzmann (Pequea Valley) scored 11 points and led the Blue Jays in steals with three.

Millersville junior point guard Greg Testa (Lancaster Catholic) totaled 17 points and four steals in a 76-63 triumph over Alderson-Broaddus in the 4th Annual MU Men’s Basketball Tip-Off Classic.

Shippensburg freshman Phylicia Bessick (Hempfield) had 19 points (including five three-pointers) as the Lady Raiders defeated Mercy College 99-58 on Saturday.
