Points and accolades, all-tourney team and player of week

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S SOCCER
Saint Francis University juniors Kirsten Hoffsmith (Manheim Central) and Ashlie Knowles (Hempfield) teamed up for a key assist in SFU's 2-1 victory over Monmouth in Northeast Conference soccer action on Sunday.

Drexel freshman keeper Kaitlin Bond (Hempfield) made seven saves and allowed only one goal in a 1-0 loss to Hofstra last Friday.

Eastern University freshman Steffi Sauder (Manheim Central) scored an assist in a 6-0 win over Neumann College last Monday night. In men's action, senior Jon Ruiz (Warwick) scored a goal in a victory over Wesley College on Saturday.

Duquesne junior Zach Varga (Hempfield) recorded three saves and his fourth shutout of the year and 17th of his career in a 1-0 win over Robert Morris.

Eastern Mennonite University freshman Elizabeth Rutt (Lancaster Mennonite) scored unassisted, and junior Joy Shaiebly (Lancaster Mennonite) made three saves, in a 5-1 victory over Randolph-Macon Women’s College.

Freshmen Whitney Enck (Solanco) and Amanda Kicera (Manheim Twp.) are on the roster of Drexel's field hockey squad.

Senior Jonalyn Denlinger (Lancaster Mennonite) earned her second Old Dominion Athletic Conference field hockey Player of the Week award on Monday after leading Eastern Mennonite University to a pair of conference victories last week. Denlinger scored 14 total points last week. She moved into a tie for seventh on the EMU career goals list at 53, is currently sixth on the assists charts, and also sits eighth on the career points list with 149.

VOLLEYBALL
At the MIT/ Tufts Invitational, senior setter Erin Meredith (Manheim Twp.) became the 22nd Eastern University player to reach 5,000 career assists. She tallied nearly 160 assists in the tournament, including 64, the second highest total ever by an Eastern player, in a win over Tufts. Meredith earned the MVP award for the tournament and today was named PAC Player of the Week for the second time this season. Also, freshman Kara Hildebrand (Garden Spot) earned her second all-tournament recognition on the year, producing a team high 12 kills against Cortland and a season high 24 kills against Tufts. Eastern defeated SUNY Brockport, MIT, SUNY Cortland, and Tufts to go 20-0 on the season to date.
